Watch Motor Trend give the 2013 SRT Viper a thrashing
Posted Dec 27th 2012 7:57PM
It's no secret the boys and girls at Motor Trend don't look at the 2013 SRT Viper through rose-tinted lenses. After all, the publication recently chose the Corvette ZR1 over the new supercar from Chrysler, saying theChevrolet was easier to drive quickly. That's bad news given there's a new Corvette coming down the pike. But until now, we haven't been able to watch Motor Trend give the Viper a proper thrashing. Carlos Lago hopped behind the wheel of the V10-powered bruiser to give the machine a once-over.
While Chrysler has made big waves about the Viper's improved interior, Lago wasn't too impressed, saying there's plenty of the old car in the cabin. With a pedal box pushed toward the driver's side, a rough ride and a noisy cockpit, MT found that the Viper lags behind its European counterparts, but there's certainly no arguing against the machine's straight-line thrust. The magazine managed to rip off a 3.4-second 0-60 mph time during testing.
In the end, Lago finds that the Viper still earns its brutish reputation, but is somewhat more controllable. Check out the review for yourself below, including a segment with pro Randy Pobst at Laguna Seca.

The Path of Nature: French Paintings from the Wheelock Whitney Collection, 1785–1850
January 22–April 21, 2013
Accompanied by a Bulletin
Gallery 955
In 2003 the Metropolitan Museum acquired a significant group of paintings spanning a key period in European history, beginning with the advent of the French Revolution and concluding with the reign of Louis-Philippe. Assembled by the New York connoisseur Wheelock Whitney between 1972 and 2000, this collection reveals a rich tradition of painting out of doors nearly a century before Impressionism, thus amplifying the role of the natural world as a source of inspiration to artists on the cusp of the modern epoch. This exhibition of fifty paintings is the first to be devoted entirely to the Whitney collection and includes examples by numerous painters who are thought to be represented in no other American museum.
The Whitney collection is remarkable for its concentration of plein-air oil studies by artists ranging from Pierre-Henri de Valenciennes to Camille Corot. This is complemented by a strong representation of finished landscapes, history subjects, genre, and portraiture: in short, the full scope of painting that one could expect to find in a Parisian cabinet d'amateur, or private collection, in the first half of the nineteenth century. Crossing the boundaries of subject matter and lying at the heart of the collection is a group of paintings executed by northern artists drawn to Rome by its combination of antiquity and natural beauty. A number of these painters received from the Académie des Beaux-Arts, Paris, the Rome Prize to study painting in Italy, for example, François-Édouard Picot, Léon Pallière, Charles Rémond, and André Giroux. Others traveled there independently, such as Joseph Bidauld, Simon Denis, François-Marius Granet, and Théodore Caruelle Aligny. The exhibition also illuminates one of the most popular developments in French painting during the 1820s, the depiction of Italian peasants, brigands, and clerics, by such representative figures as Claude Bonnefond, Jean-François Montessuy, and Louis-Léopold Robert.

The Bionic Olympian Races with 5-Year-Old with No Hands and Feet
The Bionic Olympian Races with 5-Year-Old with No Hands and Feet
August 8, 2012 · By Anna Karina
In newly discovered photos from the last Olympics, South African sprinter Oscar “Blade Runner” Pistorious was seen racing a 5-year-old girl who lost her hands and lower legs to meningitis.
25-year-old Pistorious’ legs were amputated when he was 11-months-old and doctors discovered he had no fibulas. For Ellie May Challis, her disability follows a similar story, as the little girl lost her hands and lower legs at 16-months, after she contracted meningitis.
The photos resurfaced after Pistorious made history in this year’s London Olympics. The bionic Olympian was finally cleared to participate in the 400-meter race, reversing the initial ban due to the “unfair”, but unproven advantage from his Flex Foot prosthetics.
Despite his amazing time (46.54 seconds), Pistorious did not qualify for the finals, but was only 2 seconds slower than the incumbent champion Kirani James of Grenada.
“I just see him as another athlete, another competitor,” James said as he exchanged bib numbers with Pistorious at the end of the race. “What’s more important is I see him as another person. He’s someone I admire and respect.”
“Hearing the roar of the crowd and knowing that there were so many people behind me just made it that much more enjoyable,” Pistorious also said in a recent interview.
As for little Ellie, Pistorious proves that her Olympic dreams aren’t too far behind. Ellie was the youngest person to be fitted with more sophisticated carbon fiber prosthetics (thanks to combined donations reaching $15,000). In fact, the little girl recently participated in local 15-meter races in North London, besting the champion sprinter in all four races.Read More...

Chad Johnson Arrested For Head Butting Evelyn Lozada
Chad Johnson Arrested For Head Butting Evelyn Lozada
SAT, AUG 11 2012 BY BITCHIE STAFF | FILED UNDER: CELEBRITIES
It hasn’t even been 72 days yet and it’s looking as though The Johnson marriage may trumpKim Kardashian and Kris Humphries fiasco.
Earlier tonight, Chad Johnson (better known as Ochocinco before he changed his name back), was arrested for domestic violence after he allegedly head butted his new wife Evelyn Lozada. According to reports, the two got into an argument while in a car outside of Chad’s Davie residence after he found a receipt for a box of condoms belonging to Evelyn. A neighbor called the cops and when they arrived, Evelyn had a nice sized laceration on her forehead. Chad told police that he and Evelyn accidentally knocked heads, however he was arrested and she was taken to a nearby hospital.
As of now, Chad is still in jail and is not eligible for release until a bail hearing is set which could be as late as Monday.
The couple were married on July 4th and are set to appear in a Basketball Wives spinoff show ‘Ev & Ocho’, complete with a wedding special, which will premiere in September.
Meanwhile, VH1 producers are probably trying to figure out how to spin this. You couldn’t make this type of stuff up.
Hopefully this was all an accident. In the 12 years that he has been in the NFL, he has never been arrested.
