Mark Burnett’s global conquest of reality shows is about to hit the stratosphere.
The prolific reality producer, who is behind the likes of “Survivor,” is teaming up with billionaire Richard Branson and his space flight outfit Virgin Galactic to send one lucky person to outer space.
TV Guide broke the news, writing that a bidding war among several networks is already underway for the project with the winner set to take off on Virgin Galactic’s SpaceShipTwo from Spaceport America in New Mexico as early as next year.
The magazine reports that Tom Hanks, Ashton Kutcher, Leonardo DiCaprio, Justin Bieber, Katy Perry, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are some of the famous names from more than 600 people who have already signed up for a Virgin Galactic flight, which a hefty price tag of $250,000 per seat.
